Ode to The Masters

Like many golfers, I look forward to this tournament every year. The purity of the golf, the quality of the golfers, the colors! It’s an amazing watch all around at one of the cathedrals of the game. The Masters is typically the first major of the year so there’s a ton of anticipation that builds up to it every April. And given the April scheduling, it marks the start Spring and provides a springboard into the golf season altogether.

Obviously it’s been different this time around. Played in the Fall, no fans, 2020 everywhere, but as usual it did not disappoint. The leaderboard was stacked for most of the tournament. There were some jaw dropping shots in the final round (I’m looking at you Cam Smith…twice!). And in the end, the champion earned every bit of that green jacket on the 18th green. Well done DJ!

I’ve never been to the tournament but hope to some day. I’m told it’s an experience unlike any other and not just in the tag-line sort of way. The echoes of legends past and present. The roars of the crowds on every birdie down the stretch. The pine straw. Each pro’s magician touch around closely shaved green banks and the majesty of Magnolia Lane altogether. I’ve been in the lottery for a while now so let’s hope the odds are in favor, fingers crossed!

That pure golf experience is what we seek at Nelson Hill and hope to represent in the eyes of our followers. But that is earned and not given. So each day we move the ball forward a little bit with that goal in mind.

See you again in April, Augusta!
